Image of the city, Kevin Lynch
- Inhabitants feel related to spaces and parts of the city by their memories and meanigs
- moveable elements, especially humans and their ocupations, are as important as stationary or fixed elements
-mostly we don´t realize the city steadily or from one point of view, the meanings have fragments and are mixed by all kind of informations that the observer take in account, like differnt cultural aspects and interests. also all senses are included by living in the city and the image created is a result of all the experiences of all senses (available).
- One aspect for comunication might be orientation which is supported by people talking (oral), showing (visual) or signs (visual) or even smells (link to viktor papanek)
-groups of shared interests take a main role in "specialisd spaces", it makes it easier for the designer to define a space or object or system by taking groups denominators in account
- comunication through electronical devices should be seen as critical, especially when disorientation or confusion of people might be a reason of the devices´ failure or being out of order.
- To understand the role of the comunication in a city and their neighborhoods, we have to observe closely the places and the inhabitants living there.
-the meaning of comunication for the city is not to be generalised, even though certain places might share same aspects, the appliance of comunication is highly individual because of cultural diferences.
- comparison of the ideals of the cities in the different decades(examples)
- cities are dynamic (changes through interest) and therefor can not be specialised
